Empathizing
On the first day of the hackathon, we made progress interpreting the topic and brainstorming the possible problem areas. After the process, we picked a direction on which we focused on for drafting interview questions and conducting the interviews on the third day. Our interviews included both onsite and online interviews. Personally, I interviewed two peasant farmers and members of the team interviewed more farmers, consumers and also traders. Here are the insights we synthesized:

Defining the Problem
We extracted specific questions among a list provided to identify the current problems consumers faced while accessing fresh farm produce. We segmented our interviews to focus on three groups of consumers including the market women, farmers and consumers. Our research focused solely on the responses gotten from the consumers and then we drew out the problem statement.
Building a Customer Persona
To get a firm grasp at who our customer might be, we created a customer avatar. We built a fictitious buyer persona of a targeted customer. We sought to identify behavioral and buyer characteristics to determine how our target customer will behave and act. We focused on demographic information, backstory, goals and motivations, roadblocks, and special information.
Prototype

Design Justifications
As we all brainstormed about the design ideas, we were intentional about the specific features we wanted our app to have. These features included among many, interactivity, Ease of personalization, valuable, Ease in communication, Trackability of deliveries. These unique words guided us into making informed decisions on how to go about designing the app.
01. Interactivity
The product is designed with interactive splash screens the provides the user with an idea of the features to expect to use in the app.
02. Ease of Personalization
The product provides both users the freedom to select the profile that suites their immediate needs.
03. Ease in Communication
The prototype seeks to incorporate communication APIs for texting and calling to ensure perfect communication between consumers to consumers, and producers to consumers.
04. Valuable
During the ideation process, we identified the problems urban dwellers faced in accessing fresh farm produce. This guided us in including better sanitary measures accessing farm produce and as well work on better measures for preserving these produce. An example of these measures included sellers verification forms and scheduled onsite inspection.

Presentation
The pitch day was set for the 16th of July 2021, where my team and I participated collectively in presenting our findings and prototype to the judges, the coaches and the rest of the fellows. Each team member handled a section of the pitch to show our collaborative effort in making the presentation successful. Please find attached to this file the link to the slides presentation.
Judges Comments
Great work on your presentation and pitch. It was wonderful to see your group come together as a team. Good job on improvising when there were tech issues. Your prototype to shows your concept and bring it to life! It would have been great to Zoom in or show a couple of the screens. However, beautiful presentation!
Facilitators
Feasible concept to address a problem. Had quantitative numbers to back the revenue model. Liked the concept of implementing a subscription model.
Judge 1 - Kelsey
Great idea. Think through your pricing and ensure that the market vendors can afford and use this app. There may be a technical distance between market sellers and app implentation, perhpaps field agents can help and officiate this. Look into charging the consumers a subscription as well, similar to instacart.
Judge 3 - Doyin
Very good product design and implementation plan. Who is paying the subscription fee? How do you deal with food supply and managing inventory of food from the marketers end?
